At La Botanique sustainability is our most important driver. Producing and selling products comes with a lot of environmental responsibilities, which we will never take lightly.

Natural Materials

We try to minimize the amount of synthetic materials we use in our garments. In order to improve on durability, synthetic materials are (unfortunately) necessary. However, whenever find natural alternatives with similar durable properties, we will opt for the natural alternative.

Vegan Friendly

La Botanique is 100% suitable for vegans. We do not plan on using any animal products in the near future.

Wool: although wool is a material with incredible properties, we cannot guarantee the wellbeing of the animals and therefore we will abstain from using any wool.

Leather: it is often said that leather is a byproduct of the meat industry. However:

1. this is not always the case, and

2. we do not want to support the current meat industry in any way, shape or form.

Whenever using leather alternatives, we will carefully consider the material to minimize the use of plastics.

Durability

In our eyes, durability is the most important pillar of sustainability. Therefore, we do not compromise in quality, ever. Not to get the price down, not to increase our margins. We strive to offer the best possible quality to ensure a long lifetime for all La Botanique products. Not just durable in quality, also durable in style.

Production

Most of our production takes place in Portugal. We always try to produce as close to our headquarters as possible in order to minimize shipping pollution, even if this comes with a premium.

We value fair working environments. All our factories have a list of certificates to guarantee fairness and safety for all employees.

Shipping

We do not offer free shipping. Shipping costs money, effort and is polluting, and we want the consumer to be aware of that. Furthermore, we only offer sustainable shipping options to minimize pollution.

If you live nearby, we also allow you to pick up your package at our headquarters in Tilburg. This is a free option. Please come by bike.

Packaging

All our packaging is made from recycled materials. Please help recycling the packaging again by throwing it in the correct recycling bin.

We try to abstain from using any glue in our cardboard packaging - only the adhesive strip contains glue.

We try to minimize the amount of paint on our packaging. Whenever we use paint, it’s water-based paint.

Our hangtags and thank you cards are made from seed paper. You can plant our hangtags for a nice surprise in the spring.

Charity

We value the wellbeing of others. To help those in need (humans or animals) we will occasionally release a charity piece. 100% of the profit of these charity pieces will be donated.

Please note: we are only responsible for our own profit. Our stockists can choose whether or not they also want to contribute by donating (a part of) their profit. We will, of course, encourage them to do so.
